Reverse Osmosis & Water pH Ionizer Systems for Windsor & Essex County

AER_AerusReverseOsmosisDiagram.png

Reverse osmosis is the most effective residential technology for producing clean drinking water. It removes what other filtration methods leave behind — dissolved salts, heavy metals, nitrates, PFAS compounds, chlorine byproducts, and a wide range of organic and inorganic contaminants that standard carbon filters and sediment screens don't reach. For Windsor-Essex homeowners who want to know exactly what they're drinking, reverse osmosis is the answer that holds up to scrutiny.

The technology works by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure. The membrane's pores are small enough to block dissolved solids while allowing water molecules through. What passes through is significantly cleaner than what went in — typically removing 95% or more of total dissolved solids, depending on the specific contaminants and their concentrations.

Aerus Elevate pH 600+

The Elevate pH 600+ is the reverse osmosis system we recommend most frequently for Windsor-area homes. It uses six total treatment stages — including four stages of advanced filtration — to produce drinking water that's cleaner than anything a pitcher filter or refrigerator filter can deliver.

What sets the Elevate pH 600+ apart from basic RO systems is its post-filtration pH enhancement stage. Standard reverse osmosis produces very clean water, but the process also strips out beneficial minerals, which can lower the pH and leave the water tasting flat. The Elevate pH 600+ reintroduces minerals after purification to bring the pH back up and improve the taste profile. The result is water that's both purified and pleasant to drink.

The system features an activated carbon filter and coconut granulated carbon filter as pre-treatment stages, protecting the RO membrane and extending its working life. It installs beneath the kitchen sink and connects to a dedicated faucet alongside your existing tap. Installation is typically completed in a single visit by one of our technicians, and the system operates quietly with no noticeable effect on water pressure at other fixtures.

Aerus Elevate pH Max

Elevate pH Max is a water ionizer that offers 8 different pH levels for your drinking water, ranging from 4.0 acidic water to 10.0 alkaline water plus a Super function to achieve extreme pH levels when needed.

Elevate pH Max goes a step beyond regular drinking water to provide extreme levels of hydration. This water ionizer offers 8 different pH levels for your drinking water, ranging from 4.0 acidic water to 10.0 alkaline water, plus a Super function to achieve even higher pH levels.

  • Direct Disk Ionization (DDI) Technology™ does not require numerous plates or membranes and square inches of surface area does not apply, as they do in conventional plate ionization units.

  • Can achieve standard ORP levels at a higher flow rate.

  • A patented constant power output design monitors the TDS level of the source water and automatically adjusts accordingly to maintain a constant pH level.

  • Designed to operate in low or high TDS areas, even with the TDS is in the thousands.

What Reverse Osmosis Removes

The Elevate pH 600+ is rated for removal of salts, sugars, proteins, dyes, particles, heavy metals (including lead), dissolved organics, and disinfection byproducts. In practical terms for Windsor-Essex residents, that covers the contaminants that matter most:

PFAS and PFOS. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances have been detected in Great Lakes source water and in rural groundwater across Essex County. Municipal treatment reduces but doesn't fully eliminate PFAS. Reverse osmosis is one of the most effective residential technologies for reducing these compounds at the point of use.

Lead. Homes built before the mid-1980s may have lead solder at pipe joints or lead service lines from the street. Lead is colourless and tasteless — the only way to know it's present is to test. RO removes it at the tap, which is where it matters most for drinking and cooking water.

Nitrates. Well water homes near agricultural land in Essex County frequently show elevated nitrate levels from fertilizer use. Nitrates are a particular health concern for infants. RO removes nitrates effectively at the drinking tap.

Chlorine and disinfection byproducts. Municipal water arrives with residual chlorine and the chemical byproducts formed during the chlorination process. While whole home carbon filtration addresses chlorine throughout the house, an under-sink RO system handles chlorine, byproducts, and dissolved solids at the single point where water quality matters most — the tap you drink from.

Dissolved solids and minerals. Total dissolved solids (TDS) levels in Windsor-area water can be elevated, particularly in well water. High TDS affects taste and can indicate the presence of a range of dissolved substances. RO reduces TDS dramatically.

Under-Sink vs. Whole House RO

Most Windsor-area households get what they need from an under-sink reverse osmosis system. It treats the water you drink and cook with — which is where contamination risk matters most for health — without the higher cost and complexity of treating every gallon that flows through the house.

Whole house reverse osmosis is a larger installation suited to homes with severe contamination, particularly rural properties on well water where concerns extend to bathing and laundry as well as drinking water. For most situations, an under-sink RO system combined with appropriate whole home filtration provides the right balance of protection and cost.

Filter Replacement and Maintenance

The Elevate pH 600+ requires periodic filter and membrane replacement to maintain performance. Pre-filters typically need attention every six to twelve months depending on incoming water quality. The RO membrane itself lasts two to three years under normal conditions. We track your system's installation date and usage, and we reach out when service is due — you don't have to remember the schedule yourself.

Replacement filters and cartridges are available through our showroom. We use genuine Aerus replacement components, not aftermarket alternatives.

Get a Free Water Test Today

The free in-home water test tells us what's in your water and whether reverse osmosis is the right solution — alone or in combination with other treatment. We test at your tap, explain the results in plain terms, and recommend only what the chemistry calls for.
